Who We Are

A Message From Our Executive Director

Greetings!

I am happy to welcome you to the Youth Guidance website!

Did you know that Youth Guidance has provided comprehensive services to at-risk youth for nearly a century? We take pride in our 82 years of committed work in Chicago—in 2005 alone, we reached over 17,000 students and families in 52 school-based programs.

Our successes can only continue with support of valued friends and partnerships like those represented on our supporters webpage. I ask that you strengthen your connection with Youth Guidance by browsing our website, and consider making a donation by clicking here.

On behalf of our dedicated staff, Board of Directors and most of all the children and youth served by Youth Guidance, thank you for visiting youth-guidance.org!

With confidence in the possibilities for a Bright Future for all of our children,

Vivian Loseth
Executive Director

A Message From Our Board President

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope that it will help you feel the satisfaction that comes from making a difference in the lives of kids with the odds stacked against them. We encourage you to become involved.

Youth Guidance works inside the Chicago Public Schools. Our staff is a group of extraordinarily capable and caring social service professionals. Through them, YG helps at-risk kids deal with problems that can prevent them from getting a good education. These kids face gangs, drugs, lack of positive adult involvement in their lives, abuse, violence, and health issues, among others. From our vantage point in the schools, we build rapport with students, school staff and the community, then design and implement programs based on the perspective we gain. Research, both inside and outside Youth Guidance, validates our work. We are successful helping kids to succeed in school and in life.

While we are helping deliver opportunities to many young people, there is a need to do much more. We invite you to become part of the growing family of people who are involved in YG’s work and committed to achieving its vision. Feel free to contact the development department, yshariff@youth-guidance.org, or me, dbloem@youth-guidance.org, to learn more.

Yours very truly,

Delmar F. Bloem
President, Board of Directors
