On Wednesday, December 14, 2011, PNC Vice President and Community Reinvestment Officer, Paul Labonne presented Youth Guidance with a check in the amount of $25,000 to support the delivery of financial literacy education programming for Chicago youth participating in Youth Guidance's Project Prepare and Community & After School Programs. Partnering with with Enterprising Kids, Inc., Youth Guidance will use the funding support to provide financial literacy education workshops to more than 150 Chicago Public School students. Workshop topics include: "Saving and Investing" "Living on Your Own", and "Managing Money". The workshops are designed to increase students' basic financial literacy, empowering them with the skills needed to earn, save, give and spend responsibly. "PNC is proud to continue its partnership with Youth Guidance," stated Labonne. "The work this incredible organization is doing with Chicago's at-risk youth is well-aligned with PNC's commitment to strengthening and enriching the lives of our neighbors in the communities where we work and live." Youth Guidance's Project Prepare program is designed to assist at-risk youth, living in disadvantaged communities across Chicago, prepare for high school graduation, post-secondary education, and/or post-secondary careers. Youth Guidance's Community & After School Programs address barriers to student learning by providing academic and social supports within and outside of traditional school hours.
