YG Students from Bowen High Visit Historical Memphis Sites for Black History Month

20160205_114901On February 5th and 6th, BAM and WOW students along with YG staff from Bowen traveled to Memphis to see historical sites. The trip was planned to visit historical sites to Honor Black History Month. The trip started at Lemoyne College, the only Historically Black College in Memphis. The students were given a tour of the campus. The students also visited the location in which Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. died, the Lorraine Hotel. Participants toured the Legacy Museum which includes historical photos and items from the Civil Rights Era. The students concluded their trip with a tour of the Slave Haven Museum, grounds that used to be used for slave escape during the Underground Railroad. The trip provided a wonderful learning experiences to students in order to celebrate Black History Month.
