Did you know that Youth Guidance Community & After-School programs (CAP) serve nearly 4.000 students across Chicago? To celebrate the impact of and raise awareness for our afterschool programs Youth Guidance participated in the national 2015 Lights on Afterschool event. As Program Manager DeSonta Tillman explained: “Lights on Afterschool was created to help promote afterschool programming and efforts, express to legislatures and funders that afterschool is important and needed, and highlight partners that support afterschool programming. Overall we want to tell our afterschool story!”
CAP creates safe, integrated, school-centered support structures that promote students’ academic and social-emotional development ranging from homework assistance, technology exploration, recreation and physical activity, skill development, to safety and supervision after school. We work to serve the whole child and community.
