On Father’s Day, Discovery Channel and OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network debuted the documentary film RISE: The Promise of My Brother’s Keeper which featured Youth Guidance’s Becoming a Man (BAM) program for living the principles of the My Brother’s Keeper intiative. The one-hour film explores the lives and families of young men of color and the positive impact of creative interventions, such as BAM, that support them.
BAM Founder Tony Ramirez DiVittorio, BAM Counselor Anthony “Bharataji” Joplin and 12-year-old BAM student Xavier Arreola from Tarkington School of Excellence are featured in the film and attended the June 18th red carpet screening held at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. The film will run on Discovery and OWN throughout June and July. It will also be available through Video On Demand on select TV networks. Check local listings for details.
